Mysterious volunteer

I discovered this volunteer plant where no garden had ever been - no idea what brought the seed to this spot. I'm not sure whether the pretty yellow flower indicates a squash of some kind or cucumber. If any CM gardener recognizes it, I'd appreciate knowing what to expect. - LW Comments | Permalink Deer family on Fortune Street

Mama deer and her romping twins visited the yard this week. There are just enough trees and brush along the Town Creek for protection that they feel free to wander and look for sweet grasses. Comments | Permalink Getting a new sign

The 20-year-old Columbia Training and Development Center building on Burkesville Street is getting a new sign and brick washing this summer. The City is pictured removing the old sign which had weathered and faded. A new sign will replace it in that spot, or may be placed in a different spot on the property. Directors of the three partners that run the Center - EDA, Chamber and Tourism - will meet and make that decision. Comments | Permalink Older Photos
