Applause given for gift of Columbian Theater

Dr. Ben Arnold was applauded after he made his gift of the Columbian Theater official at Thursday's Adair County School Board meeting. Last November it was leased to the schools for one dollar toward the possibility of the schools ultimately becoming the beneficiary of the historic property at 126 Public Square. The gift was made official before the one year mark as progress has steadily continued. Comments | Permalink

Superintendent Pamela Stephens presented Dr. Ben Arnold with a special shirt showing the historic Columbian Theater sign, complete with the reflection of the courthouse, after he made his gift official. Doug Beard, at right, was credited with having the vision of possibilities for the school district becoming its leaders. He and Dr. Stephens began communications with Dr. Arnold last year.
