By Torrie Osbon, Communications Director

Metcalfe County High School is proud to announce senior Colton Huffman is one of the top five National Beta Scholarship winners. This year, more than 2,700 students, both nationally and internationally, applied for a National Beta scholarship. Five students received the top awards, and Huffman was awarded $6,000.

Selection of National Beta Scholarship winners is based on several factors with special emphasis on academic excellence, demonstrated leadership, commendable character, school and community service, as well as National Beta involvement.

"National Beta members are among the top students in their respective schools. We're thrilled that our program defrays some of the expense of these students' first year in college and helps bring them closer to the attainment of their goals," said National Beta CEO Bobby Hart.

National Beta awards more than $300,000 in scholarships to outstanding members in the 12th grade each year.
